On a rainy bank holiday Monday allotment site children
made colourful bird scarers from CDs snug and dry in the community shed.
Because of the weather only a few people turned up,
but they had great fun. As well as the bird scarers for their gardens they made
pictures using leaves and flowers and did some colouring as well. The activity
was run by Rita with help from Imogen and Andrew.
The next activity for allotment site children with a
gardening theme is planned for Sunday 22 June – more details soon. We are
encouraging parents to set aside a bit of the plot children to grow their own
crops, to plant out the seeds they grew on the early May bank holiday, and to
grow pumpkins so that they can carve them at Halloween into lanterns.
Everyone and their children will be welcome to join in
the activities at the open day 6 July. More details later, read more about the
day here .
The community shed now has windows and is waterproof,
thanks to a lot of work by Peter. There are some quizzes and colouring sheets
and pencils in the community shed for children to use if the weather is wet. Read
more about the shed here . We will soon have gutters and waterbutts, and we will
need to paint it so help welcome. Contact us .
