Walthamstow Stadium - our neighbour and sponsor - has closed, but the campaign to save it continues.

Our landmark neighbour and helpful sponsor, Walthamstow Greyhound Stadium, close 16 August, despite higher attendance since the closure announcement and the campaign to save it. 

The stadium is important to the area and its loss is very sad. Read the campaign website to see what you can do to save it. 

Walthamstow Stadium has a been a good friend to us -- engraving trophies and providing beautiful plaques for winners of our branch gardening competitions, including sponsoring the Walthamstow Stadium Trophy, helping with parking and providing raffle prizes for our events. We are very grateful for their help over the years. 

The stadium is an important landmark. We always say when explaining where we are that we are opposite the Walthamstow Stadium. Many of our plot holders have long memories of it. One of founder members, for example, used to say he always used the clock to see when it was time to stop gardening and go home. And for everyone the iconic neon lit front is a backdrop to events and gardening on our allotment site.
