HM09springws.jpg Spring is here and gardeners are out and about at the allotments. Where you can buy organic vegetable seedlings

attille family at workEveryone’s starting to get their plots ready to sow crops, and even the kids are getting involved. Here are the Atille Webber family setting up beds and watering. Ruth is using the water from her water butt to get her new crop started. Peter is trimming his edges neatly, Mohammed is forking over some rough ground, and Dinah and Dave are tired but proud of their new raised beds on their second weekend on their new plot. Blossoms and bees are everywhere, despite some cloudy skies.attille family at workpeter trimming grasshm09dinah.jpgmohamed forking gardenruth watering  plum blossom

We are working on getting the site tidy, with an improved car park, compost and manure deliveries, and a skip coming soon – watch out for notices and e-mails. We need to be especially careful about taking food litter home as our allotment site like everywhere else is very popular for rats.

You can buy organic vegetable seedlings at the Saturday stall outside the Hornbeam Centre, run by Organic Lea .
