Creating a raised bed area Print E-mail

We are putting in for a grant to set up raised beds for people who are now finding traditional gardening difficult. This is the first step in making our allotment site more accessible to people with disabilities.

We want everyone to have the chance to garden, so in keeping with disability legislation and good practice we propose to make a start on improving access for people who are less physically able. This includes supporting existing plot holders, who for many reasons can no longer garden on traditional flat plots, to remain on the site for as long as possible. We have drawn up plans to put six raised beds and a shed on a half plot near the gates, with paving around each bed and easily accessible water. Two of our existing plot holders who are finding traditional gardening harder these days will be the first to benefit.

We will put in for a grant to do these important improvements.hm07raisedbeds.jpg
