We are
encouraging wildlife-friendly gardening on the allotment site.
We know
that many plot holders really enjoy seeing wildlife, so we are planning ways to
encourage more wildlife around the allotment site and more wildlife friendly
gardening on the plots.
Next year our branch competition will take account of
wildlife friendly gardening as well as fruit and vegetable growing.
This year
we are planning other activities. We are starting with some advice to everyone
who'd like to make their garden wildlife friendly, together with a fun quiz and
a game. And we’re hoping to launch a survey of wildlife so that plot holders
and their children can look for creatures on your plot and on the site. We are
going to put in a bid for funding to attract wildlife to the site by renewing
and creating ponds, planting trees and hedges, and putting up a bird, bat and
hedgehog boxes in the communal parts of the site.
Get advice on
how to make a pond (Don't forget plotholders should ask first)
